This is a compensated review by BlogHer and L'Bel.
As a beauty blogger I get a lot of cool make up, but even I was a little giddy when the giant package of $200 worth of L'Bel Paris product arrived. You can tell this stuff is fancy and French just by the way it smells!
The package included the perfect mix for me: tons of skincare, this awesome perfume, and my new favorite black eyeliner!
As I get older, my beauty regime has evolved into a "less is more" approach, with a focus on preserving and showcasing my better features. I like a clean face, dramatic but simple eye, and lip balm rather than lipstick.
The thing that I always add on, every day, to feel beautiful is some kind of perfume. I love the bottles, I love the scents, and I love the ritual of spritzing into the air and wafting through it.
L'Bel sent me exactly the products to keep my look going in five simple steps:
Step 1: Cleansing
ESSENTIAL Moisturizing Softening Cleansing Lotion
ESSENTIAL Moisturizing Softening Lotion Toner
Smells good, leave your skin glowing and fresh.
Step 2: Moisturizing
SUPRÉMACIE JOUR Replenishing Treatment Facial Day Cream (am)
Light, smooth, has SPF 15, dries with a matte finish that took a couple of days to get used to, now I'm into it.
SUPRÉMACIE YEUX Replenishing Treatment for Eyes - Cream (am - pm)
I love-love-love how light and non-greasy this eye cream is. Plus it didn't make my eyes water. We are together for ever.
Step 3: Repair
LIBERTÂGE ADVANCE JOUR Ultra Expression Line Corrector Cream Gel with Instant Effect
This is the magic stuff. It fixes that line between my eyebrows. I don't know how, I'm just glad. It's hard to only use a little, because I'm tempted to put it everywhere I want to "plump" up.
On my face. Where did you think I meant?
Step 4: Cake on the black eyeliner
COULEUR LUXE Défini XP Soft and Long-Lasting Eyeliner
I am an expert on black eyeliner. No really, I have tried literally every black eyeliner on the market. Pencil, liquid, cake, gel. I have them all.
This one is my new favorite for daily wear because it goes on smoothly like a gel, it's inky dark, and it has a little bit of smudgeability, but doesn't wipe off. It's not the longest wearing one out there, but it touches up nicely during the day/evening. It's ungel-like in that it holds up well with eyeshadow (most gels attract eye shadow like glue & glitter) and it keeps point (most gel pencils smush down and/or the tip breaks off).
Step 5: Smell Good
BRISES DE VIE Eau de Toilette Atomiseur Pour Femme
It's french perfume. It smells nice! And it makes me finished and pulled together, like it wraps me up in an invisible essence of pretty.

I don't wear a lot of makeup unless I'm going out. When you work from home, you don't really have anyone to impress. But I *do* make sure that I clean my face & put on moisturizer every day. (Since I hit my mid-thirties, my skin is so dry!)
I think with the right products, though, I could do a little more. I have such sensitive skin that I have to be careful what I use. And I *should* be using the more expensive stuff w/better ingredients. I need to work on that. :)

Basically, my strategy is MORE. More eyeliner, more eyeshadow, more lip gloss. And so far, I think it works. But MORE and BETTER would also be nice!

I wanna hear more about the line between your eyes and the disappearance of that sucker.
Mine is in pretty deep. But I'm still going to give it a go, thanks for the great review.

I am low maintenance when it comes to the amount of items I use. A shiny natural lip gloss, a good eye pencil and mascara really does the trick for me along with some tinted powder, but to make the look turn fancy I add some sparkle with some eyeshadow (still trying to master how to put it on to make my eyes appear larger than they actually are).

I'm a simple girl -- I just add a little lip gloss for those extra special moments. :)

For special occasions like the rare date night with hubby (and I do mean rare), I use a darker eye shadow and red lipstick that I don't normally wear...just something a little more dramatic.
Happy holidays!

On special occasions I go for the smokey eye look, use a little bit extra mascara and a little darker lipstick.

For special occasions, I wear eye shadow. Most of the time it makes my eyes water, but I'll endure it because it does add a lot to my look.

Like you, at home, make up free but with well cared for skin. Although my job requires me to wear make up every day I work, I would personally prefer not, too. But a day doesn’t pass that I don’t wear skin care!

Eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara, and occasionally foundation for everyday. Perhaps lip liner and Blistex or neutral lipgloss for "extra special."

I love creating a more dramatic look with dark eye makeup.

For special occasions, I like to add a little more eye liner and also lipstick. I'm usually in too big of a rush to remember lipstick.

Eyeliner. I don't take the time to apply eyeliner most days - but for those special occasions, I put on some charcoal grey or black eyeliner.

For special occasions, I definitely break out the red lipstick. I've yet to find the perfect shade though.

I either do one of two things for special occasions. Dark eye shadow ( all over eye) and muted lips or bold red lips and nary a drop of eyeshadow, but with lots of mascara.

For special occasions, I add highlighting shimmer to just under my eyebrows (and smooth it out) and mascara. Lots of mascara!

I don't really wear a lot of makeup most days, since I don't see many people most days, but special occasions always call for bold lipstick :)

I like to add some pink lipstick or a lipstain & some sparkly lipgloss! :)

I wear so little makeup usually that when I have a special occasion, just wearing makeup at all is a big deal. Red lipstick is a must.

I have a silver, glittery eye liner I put either over or under my regular eye liner. Very fancy :)

This would be an amazing giveaway to win! For an extra special touch when putting on my make-up, I'll add some shimmery (light pinkish) eyeshadow to my cheeks, chin, and forehead. It adds a nice little subtle something without going too overboard!
Posted by: Becca | 12/11/2009 at 10:26 AM
I add bronzer for a little something special.
Thanks for the chance to win!

I put on a different eye shadow and a bright red lip for a special night!

some kohl eyeliner and light lip gloss! :)
