Hwooo-hoo! Today was the last day of my corporate marketing job. And I don't have another one lined up. No more psychotic bosses, pointless meetings or endless rounds of revisions to brochures that NO ONE WILL EVER READ. I'm done! Finito! Escaped! Mwhahahahahah!
As Chief's brother, The Artistic One, says: now I'm "Fun-employed."
Of course that also means no more corporate paycheck. Which would would be utterly terrifying if I wasn't so freaking happy. I can't believe how relieved I am to be free!
It's like being able to breathe after having my head held underwater. For ten years.
In celebration Chief and I are drinking prosecco and watching the Warriors. I'm wearing my Barry Manilow t-shirt, which I may wear every day for the rest of the week. Because I can! Good bye pinstripe suits, hello pants without zippers or pockets!
Even with all of this jubilation, it seems imaginary. Tonight feels like the Friday before a long weekend.
Okay, a very long weekend.
The planning, networking and hustling will start soon enough. I'll be around, writing more here and in some new places. I'll let you know when it all shakes out. For now, I'm just hanging on the couch, pinching myself. Glad to be free.
Deep breath.
